The Circular Economy
Take - Make - Dispose economies have had devistating impacts on the enviroment and consequently on people and wildlife. The circular econmomy model by contrast has the potential to exact much needed change. It is still uncertain if this will get the world back on track to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The current economic model has created large amounts of waste that profits a relatively small number of people, a circular economy could treat waste as a design flaw and could generate better distributed and inclusive systems. At a mininmum it offers an opportunity to rethink, reconceptualize and redesign economies to address human needs and make more effecient and effective use of natural resources. This is an environment ripe for large scale innovation and job creation. The risk lies in the rate at which this transition occurs, to fast and the disruption will have economic consequenses, to slow and there will be further degeneration of the environment.
